Building a responsible and sustainable digital entertainment business
At SpinCore Group, corporate social responsibility is not treated as a separate initiative. It is part of how we develop our businesses, select our technology partners and make operational decisions.
As a digital entertainment group, we recognise that our responsibilities extend beyond delivering safe, engaging and innovative entertainment. They also include protecting players, treating employees and partners fairly, operating with integrity and reducing the environmental impact associated with our digital infrastructure.
Our approach is based on a clear principle: sustainable long-term growth can only be achieved when commercial performance is balanced with social responsibility, sound governance and respect for the environment.
Our environmental responsibility
Online gaming is a data-intensive industry. Every login, game round, payment, security check and customer interaction depends on servers, networks and data centres operating continuously and reliably.
This digital infrastructure consumes energy. According to the International Energy Agency, data centres accounted for approximately 1.5% of global electricity consumption in 2024. Their electricity use is expected to more than double by 2030, reaching almost 3% of global electricity demand as the use of cloud services, artificial intelligence and other digital technologies continues to grow.
SpinCore Group accepts that companies operating digital platforms share responsibility for addressing this challenge. Although we do not directly operate the physical data centres supporting our services, we can influence our environmental impact through the partners we select and the standards we expect them to maintain.
Responsibility across our organisation
Environmental sustainability forms one part of SpinCore Group’s broader corporate responsibility framework. As a group operating in the regulated gaming sector, we understand that our most direct social responsibility concerns the safety and wellbeing of our players.
This means maintaining robust player-protection measures, preventing underage participation, supporting responsible play and complying with the regulatory requirements that apply in each market in which we operate. It also means protecting personal data, preventing financial crime and communicating with customers in a fair and transparent manner.
Within our organisation, we seek to create a professional workplace in which people are treated with respect and are given opportunities to contribute, develop and take responsibility. We expect the same standards of integrity, lawful conduct and responsible business practice from our suppliers and commercial partners.
A digital-first and paper-conscious workplace
Our responsibility does not end with the selection of data-centre partners. It also influences the way our teams work.
SpinCore Group promotes a digital-first working environment. Internal administration, reporting, communication and document management are conducted electronically wherever legally and operationally possible. Contracts and approvals are increasingly handled through digital workflows, while records are stored in controlled electronic environments.
This paper-conscious approach reduces unnecessary printing, physical storage and document transportation. It also supports more efficient collaboration between our offices, operational teams and international partners.
Certain documents may still need to be produced or retained in physical form because of legal, regulatory or practical requirements. Where paper use cannot reasonably be avoided, we aim to keep it proportionate and purposeful.
Continuous improvement
Sustainability is not a finished project. Technology develops, energy requirements change and expectations regarding responsible business conduct continue to evolve.
SpinCore Group will therefore continue to review its operational choices, infrastructure partnerships and internal working practices. Where credible and commercially responsible improvements are available, we will consider how they can be incorporated into our operations.
We do not claim that a digital entertainment business can operate without an environmental footprint. Our commitment is to understand that footprint, make considered choices and work with partners that demonstrate genuine and measurable sustainability ambitions.
By combining responsible entertainment, sound governance, digital efficiency and environmentally conscious decision-making, SpinCore Group aims to build businesses that create sustainable value for players, employees, partners and the communities in which we operate.
Selecting infrastructure partners with clear sustainability ambitions
Environmental performance forms part of the considerations applied when infrastructure, hosting and data-centre partners are selected for our operations.
For Hard Rock Casino NL, this approach has contributed to the selection of Leaseweb and Digital Realty as infrastructure partners. Both organisations have published sustainability commitments addressing renewable energy, energy efficiency, responsible resource use and the environmental performance of data centres.
Leaseweb has set a goal of reaching 90% renewable energy and recycled materials across its global organisation by 2026. The company states that it selects data centres with efficient Power Usage Effectiveness ratings, uses renewable electricity where possible and invests in energy-efficient servers and infrastructure. It also reuses or recycles hardware components at the end of their service life rather than treating them as ordinary waste.
Leaseweb Netherlands and Leaseweb Germany have also received Climate Neutral Data Centre certification. This confirms their commitment to meeting circular-economy requirements and working towards climate-neutral data-centre operations by 2030 as participants in the Climate Neutral Data Centre Pact.
Digital Realty similarly maintains an extensive environmental, social and governance programme. Its sustainability strategy includes expanding renewable-energy coverage, improving energy and water efficiency, using efficient cooling technology and applying recognised sustainable-building standards to major new developments and redevelopment projects.
Digital Realty reports that 93% of the electricity used across its global portfolio is covered by renewable electricity and that it has contracted 1.7 gigawatts of new renewable-energy capacity. The company also monitors energy and water consumption across its facilities and establishes site-specific efficiency targets.
By working with infrastructure providers that have measurable sustainability programmes, SpinCore Group and its operating businesses seek to reduce the environmental footprint associated with their digital services.
